Make-Up Trends
Emma Watson wears the red lipstick trend
Bold red lipstick is one of the 2008 beauty trends that's set to carry over into 2009. Harry Potter star Emma Watson paired her bright red lips with a simple coat of black mascara and a casual pony-tail with side-part.
Charlotte Casiraghi in classic red lipstick
Though Princess Caroline often leaves us wondering if she's really the daughter of style icon Grace Kelly (see Caroline's scary attempt the sheer trend if you're not sure what I mean), Charlotte causes no such doubts. The grand-daughter of the classic American screen-goddess-turned-princess carries a certain grace of her own.
Charlotte wore an elegant high-collared black gown recently, teamed with classic bold red lipstick (one of 2008's make-up trends)... a look sophisticated beyond her 21 years, and yet sweet at the same time.
Eva Green wears the bright red lipstick trend
Fair skin, blue eyes, and bright red lips. Eva Green follows one of 2008's makeup trends, with a choice of lip colour that makes her look classic rather than vampish.
With just a touch of smoky eyeshadow around her lids, the lips are the focus, meaning the overall look isn't over the top.
Rihanna loves her bright pink lipstick
It's not exactly what 2008's underwear as outerwear trend is all about, but Rihanna's H&M polka-dot bustier is certainly a match for her bold and slightly flamboyant personal style.
What is on trend, is Rihanna's bright pink lips. A makeup trend we're seeing more of, bright pink may not be for everyone but it does have a strong impact against Rihanna's darker skin tones.
Kate Bosworth in bold pink lipstick
While lipstick trends for 2008 and 2009 range far and wide, bold pink lipstick is one trend that is on the rise (read the full make-up trends guide here). Kate Bosworth was spotted last week brightening up an all-black outfit with bright pink lips and a dusting of warm blush.

Miranda Kerr for Victoria's Secret Christmas 2009
With the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2009 little more than a month a way you can expect that you'll spend the coming weeks hearing plenty of the lingerie label and their angels. Naturally that includes as-cute-as-a-button model Miranda Kerr, whose photographic endeavours for Victoria's Secret's Christmas 2009 lingerie collection are now gracing Fashionising.com.
With looks that range from the simple to the seriously sexy, it should surprise no one that Victoria's Secret are covering all bases for the forthcoming Christmas period. It's a period where they'll not only hope every woman's partner will part with their cash in the pursuit of sexiness, but a period where they'll again use the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show to reaffirm their position as the world's most prominent lingerie design house.

Laddered stockings / ripped tights fashion trend
The most defining trend of the 1990s was undoubtedly grunge. And since the 80s revival has reached its peak and is on the steady decline, it's the 90s that are next in turn - grunge naturally included. This neo-grunge takes the ripped denim trend firmly in its stride; and along with it comes another 2009 and 2010 fashion trend: laddered stockings.
The first we really noticed it was on Alexander Wang's Fall 2008 runway, in which beanies, boots and ripped tights made up a look that was rock chic meets neo-grunge. Since then, it's taken quickly to the streets - featuring in many a street-style blog across the web.
How to wear it
With conviction. Wearing a crisp, corporate skirt-suit and a pair of stockings with a little ladder or two just looks like an unfortunate run-in with a sharp fingernail. On the other hand, shredded tights with studded boots and a black mini screams fashion-forwards neo-grunge chic.
Thigh high boots / over the knee boots trend 2010
When it comes to 2010 fashion trends we're facing a year of subtlety and tradition. And while many of us will be wearing classical silhouettes and subdued colours we'll all be in need of making them pop; after all, doesn't every fashioniser want to stand out from the crowd?
For women that 'stand out' look is just about to get a whole lot easier thanks to the hottest trend for shoes in 2010: thigh high boots.
Originally I tipped that this trend would enter the wardrobes of fashion forwards women in Autumn (Fall)/Winter 2009/2010, but you've all gone ahead and worn them anyway. Yes, Summer may just be about to reach the Northern Hemisphere but seasons be damned. You want your thigh-high boots, and you want them now!
It didn't seem all that long ago that boots on women fell strictly into two domains: equestrian pursuits and 'come fuck me' boots. Thankfully society's hang ups about women in knee-high boots have long since vanished, as has a penchant for overly conservative boots. And women's boots in 2010 will be anything but conservative.
Yes, over-the-knee boots are back with a vengeance but this 2009/2010 shoe trend won't stop there. In fact, the top of your boots will be going much higher: thigh-high boots are going mainstream.
Over-the-knee and thigh-high are undoubtedly the hottest shoe trend for women in the Autumn (Fall)/Winter season, but while they scream 'sex' make sure they don't do it in the wrong way. Let's not forget, that both styles of boots are also the domain of those lovely women one sees quite frequently at night ensuring that cars don't linger for too long near street corners. So to avoid the "I wonder how much she charges" glances I recommend you also avoid two main things with any pair of over-the-knee or thigh-high boots you decide to invest in: chunky heels and a high-sheen patent finish.
Materials
If patent is to be avoided (and PVC never to be considered), then what materials do I recommend? Genuine leather, of which you're safest investment choice is classic matt black or brown. If you want a more unique colour leather, your other big choices for 2009/2010 are olive greens, greys (see Rodarte and Topshop Unique) or cream/neutral tones. Suede, the other big choice for this trend, is very much the go be it in black, brown, grey, maroon, or pretty much any other colour variation. One other material you might look at incorporating into your 2010 over-the-knee boot collection is shearling or wool lining, which makes for cosy aviation-inspired looks akin to those seen at Antonio Berardi.
Styles
Classic: for a classic or elegant take on the over-the-knee boot, your best bet is to go for a slim-fitting suede pair with a round or tapered toe. Look no further than Hermes or Isabel Marant for some perfect examples of styles that will stand the test of time.
Rock: the right pair of tight black leather over-the-knee boots screams rock-chic; tough, but sexy. Check out Ohne Titel, Yigal Azrouel, Barbara Bui and Jean Paul Gaultier for some key examples.
Futurism/Cyberpunk: building upon the cyberpunk influences of recent years, some designers have thrown an element of dark futurism into the thigh-high boot mix. Particularly evident in the wound-and-bound effects of boots by Rodarte and Topshop Unique, this is a trend I expect we'll see more of in coming seasons.
Quirky: if none of the above is quite bold enough for you, and you really want to stand out this winter, there have been many other less subtle takes on this trend to hit the runway. Louis Vuitton introduced metallics and top-to-toe laces, while Hussein Chalayan's garter-topped thigh-highs are nothing short of brazen. Do be warned though; if long-term wearability is what you're after then this is probably not the road to go down.
One other thing that you should avoid: wearing thigh-high boots in place of pants, leggings or other form of leg covers as we saw on the Prada 2009/2010 catwalk.
Where To Buy: This far out from the 2009/2010 collections actually hitting stores it's hard to guess how many smaller boutiques are already stocking above-the-knee and thigh-high boots. So do what you should always do: seek out that 100% unique vintage pair.
If vintage footwear is not your thing than refer to any of the collections from the aforementioned designers or turn to the pictures below for more inspiration. Click them for a larger view.

2009 Menswear Trend: Goth Ninja
Goth Ninja/Batman meets Rick Owens/Dorian Gray meets Damir Doma/Japanese rock star, whatever you call it, it's hot and it's growing.
One of the biggest yet somehow underground driven trends in the last couple of years has been the Goth Ninja; and it's growing as a fashion trend in 2009. The figure hugging, black clad youths are perhaps the biggest consumers of the lesser celebrated designers. They've moved away from most big name Parisian and Milanese designers and reverted back to the Antwerp six and most recently the Tokyo 6 (or was it 7 or 8? I stopped counting after Mihara Yasuhiro).
Its origins are a little bit ambiguous but it seems to be a combination of a misconception of Japanese street wear and self made "waywt" celebrities. This makes it all the more interesting as it may not have necessarily been started out by any one designer or collection. Perhaps the closest one would be Takahiro Miyashita's Number (N)ine A/W 2006. The look has even been picked up by international celebrities such as Big Bang, and umm... well maybe more if the Sartorialist went to a Manifest exhibition which I'm sure would make the look more popular.
To the untrained eye they would definitely look stylish with no obvious logos showing but on closer inspection you would be looking at a full blown label whore. A typical outfit would demonstrate one's fashion knowledge displaying particular attention to design and detail with an expert ability to mix and match. Most outfits would consist of a basic tee from American Apparel, layered with an Ann Demeulemeester top; perhaps a Rick Owens knit and an Undercover or Martin Margiela coat. Bottoms are less daring with the elusive and figure hugging Dior Homme 17 cm jeans or a looser Comme Des Garcons drop-crotch. Throw in a Balenciaga The Day bag or a Louis Vuitton Shopper, some cheap silver accessories, a pair of very expensive Number (N)ine worn leather boot and there you have it. The look is raw, deconstructed, extremely modern but yet very controlled and still very masculine.
Fortunately you wouldn't find them rolling in pigeon blood at Flinders Street Station in Melbourne, nor would you see them running around with a samurai sword. They'd most likely be located outside of a Chanel store, distracted with stalking their female equivalents. This perhaps makes it easier to clobber them on their heads and run off with 10K worth of goods. Kidding.
Fashionable hats for summer
Fashionable hats for summer
Summer is the time when every woman wants to show how beautiful and fashionable she is. Not only clothes take part in forming the style. Accessories are also very important; no style can be complete without a trendy necklace, bracelets or other little details. As far as during this season of the year you have to cover your head for you may get sunstroke. A hat or a bonnet may become a perfect accessory to fulfill your style and express character.
The latest trend these days is a hat made of straws. What you must have in your wardrobe is a black straw hat with wide edges and a rounded vertex girded with a band. This kind of hat is definitely the most fashionable this summer. Although black is very popular, you may choose any other dark color that would fit better with your clothes. If you're planning a trip to the beach where women commonly wear light dresses, pick a white hat and you'll look perfect.
Another fashionable way to cover your head is a cap. Of course you have to pick them very carefully and it definitely goes with sporty style or jeans. Men should pick washed pigment-dyed caps. You don't have to buy a new one and make it look as if it was used for 10 years, you'll undoubtedly find those in any fashionable shop. While men are into "dirty" style, women are suggested caps with flowers. A bright colored cap will surely make you look trendy and add charm to your appearance.
It's a must for a real lady to have a bonnet. It's very hard to define what is on top, because top is originality. Large bonnets of any color decorated with flowers and bands are always trendy; however, you may find something very different and look amazing. Bonnets are not for everyday use. Original bonnet will make you noticeable and complete your style better than any other accessory.
If you can't find a hat or a bonnet that fits to your style or your face shape, choose an original and very practical way to cover your head. Wear a turban. Yes, it's very original and fashionable. You may choose any material and tie it up any way you like. It goes perfectly with any style. Moreover, it creates a characterized style.
Crocheted hats are also popular. However, there is one problem - it's rather hard to find one in a shop, because if you'll purchase not an original one you'll certainly notice other females/males wearing the same. You have to find an originally designed one or make it yourself. You can be sure that if it'll be self-made you'll receive compliments not only for hat but also for your good work.
You have to be very careful while choosing a hat or a bonnet. However, this summer is a great chance to start wearing it, because no matter what you choose - you look trendy. You're already fashionable if you wear one! And you may feel free to experiment with various materials and forms. Being original this season means being fashionable.
Deep V-Neck Tops: Men's Trend 2009
Mark my words, Deep-V T-shirts are going to be the bane of men's fashion trends in Spring-Summer 2009. For that very reason I'm thankful that the Deep V-Neck trend won't be confined to the tee.
I can tell you the exact moment it happened. Tania was posting Salvatore Ferragamo's Spring-Summer 2009 collection to the forums and with a few clicks of my mouse there he was.
Ridiculously square jawed guy.
Or should I say, ridiculously square jawed guy wearing a deep v-neck t-shirt. Scrap that, a plunging neckline. No, worse still: a douche bag neck. It was there in that brief moment of horror that I realised that Spring-Summer 2009 would see far too many young guys showing off their chests. Far too many young guys without a ridiculously square jaw, or the ridiculously defined pecks to boot.
So for that sake of little children (and my eyes), in 2009 please avoid the Deep V-Neck when it comes to t-shirts. Instead, look to the likes of Neil Barrett and Burberry Prorsum for your calling. Both have taken the Deep V to a much more natural calling: cardigans.
You see, you can't really layer a t-shirt. Or at least, I can't really imagine a way it can be done without the wearer looking like a complete twat. "Look at that chap, he's wearing two t-shirts!" or, as is more likely to be the case, "that guy has a wife-beater under his douche bag neck. Weirdo!" But a cardigan is another story. You're almost forced to layer it. Sure, the catwalk models don't need to. Their square jaws, defined pecks, and distinct lack of pubic hair allows them to get away with it. But mere mortals? They'll be able to wear deep v-neck trend to their heart's content. All the time wearing it over something.
Fashion in Combat: Men's Military Trend 2009-2010
The military shape always has been a fashion driven trend for the colder months; but for Autumn (Fall)/Winter 2009-2010 designers such as Gareth Pugh, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Burberry have modified and transformed the combat uniform from the past to the now. Gareth Pugh, with one of the most unusual menswear collections for A/W 09-10 has brought inspiration from the likes of German officer overcoats from the Second World War to the metal chain mail suits that were worn under suits of armour.
